Poly aluminum Chloride (PAC for short), also called basic aluminum chloride or coagulant agent, is a water-soluble and inorganic high molecular polymer. The general chemical formula is [AL2 (OH) NCL6-NLm], where m is the polymerization degree, n is the neutralization degree of PAC products. It is a resinous solid with the color of yellow or light yellow, dark brown and charcoal grey. Due to the strong capability of bridging and absorption of this product, physical and chemical processes such as coagulation, absorption and precipitation often occur simultaneously in the hydrolysis process.
The essential difference between PAC and traditional inorganic coagulant agents is that the latter is low molecular crystalline salts and the former is composed of multi-carboxyl complex compounds with variable forms. With rapid flocculating precipitation, wide applicable PH values, no causticity on pipeline equipments and the distinct effect of water purification, PAC can eliminate effectively coloring matters such as SS, COD and BOD and heavy metal ions such as Arsenic and Hydrargyrum in water. This product is widely applied in the fields of drinking water, industrial water and wastewater treatment.
